Grud on a greenie, Woodsy... following your mention of Femo, I've attached a couple of snaps of a comic-book style Judge Dredd figure I made from Femo, approx 32 years ago!
His early stony-face career was spent enforcing decor laws in my kid's rooms. Once our juves grew up and moved out, Dredd was reassigned to the cursed earth of my garden shed.
Last year, Judge Death or some other perp tracked Dredd down I guess? I discovered his head on the floor, with a chunk broken out of the helmet plastic visor and a chipped badge... Drokk! Other than that, he's survived quite well, hidden and protected for decades beneath layers of radioactive dust and cobwebs.
I'm not a model maker and Dredd was my first and only attempt to sculpt a Femo figure.
He's still recognizable, a little out of proportion and a tad battered, but after the passage of thirty plus years, I can relate to that!
Hope you like it.

You don't wanna mess with that guy! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Arto. He was a fun project that the kids enjoyed.
DeleteWhat a fantastic effort so long ago Tone. You were really talented. I love all the details and the chain and zip is inspired! Long me Dredd remain safe in the Shedd!
ReplyDeleteHaha...'Long may Dredd remain safe in the Shedd'. I do like that, Woodsy. The zip was salvaged from a damaged Action Man Red Devil's outfit, and the eyes used for perp Eddie Dutchman's head were transplanted from a badly damaged Eagle Eyes.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work Tony! I was a massive Dredd fan for decades, until 2000ad began to get a bit lax with the art in the mid 2000's. Ironic really. Fimo I have never had any luck with at all as anything I made always became a charred lump in the oven! Bill
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, I appreciate your kind comment. I know what you mean, Femo could be an unpredictable material to work with. Should have known you were also a Dredd fan.
DeleteThat's a damn fine Dredd for someone who is 'not a model maker' Tony, especially as it was your first time with
ReplyDelete'tricky to work with' Fimo.
Well done.
Thank you Mish. My kids enjoyed having him around back then. He's still part of family nostalgia now, even though he lives the shed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, especially for a first attempt. I am sure your children were well behaved with this fellow keeping an eye on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Paul. Yep, he certainly helped keep 'em in line... along with their mum :)
ReplyDeleteI like that work!
ReplyDeleteGlad he hadn't taken the long walk after all these years...
Thanks Lewis, I appreciate the comment. Glad you like him. Really nice share him with Moonbase readers and contributors
