Here's a bit of an obscure one.
The Voyager, from the animated series of Fantastic Voyage. I remember watching it at the time and I always liked the design of their vessel. This is the Moebius reissue of the Aurora kit.
Got that shrinking feeling,
Kevin
UK
Hope you like it!
A beautiful model. The diorama setting is great. I actually have that series on DVD. Picked it up at a fair a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have fond memories of the series but haven't seen any for decades.
DeleteI do like it Kevin. Great photos. Fantastic Voyage the movie was such an important experience for me at the tender age of ten.
ReplyDeleteStill looking for the original Aurora kit!
Thank you. Yes, the film was great, there is a great kit of that vessel available too, but hard to get in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI have always preferred this version of the FV ship to the one in the theatrical film, maybe because of its simplicity, or the fact that everybody else in the world was so in love with the "official" ship from the feature film. A beautful build and your dioramas are to die for!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, the simplicity of the design appeals to me too!
ReplyDeleteI always preferred the Proteus to the Voyager! There was nothing from Fantastic Voyage as a kid, apart from a tiny bootleg sub toy found in Jamboree Bags and this Aurora kit! I had to make do with making my own version out of a cardboard tissues box!
ReplyDeleteImagine my joy when Moebius models finally released a kit, just 50 odd years later!
The only thing missing from this new kit are crew figures. You can buy a very expensive set on the after sales market, so I'm going to make my own! I'm just preparing to 3D scan my childhood Action Man in his orange jump suit, posed in different attitudes. -But first I havr to painr his boots white because the scanner doesn't read black plastic!
There are episodes of the Fantastic Voyage cartoon on You Tube, for anyone who wants to pop back in time for a while.
ReplyDeleteNice model Kev.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's an obscure one but I've always been fond of the design.
ReplyDeleteNice work on the model!
ReplyDeleteI had one of the kits as a small kid. Long since disappeared.
I've got an unbuilt kit sitting on my shelf! Would that I had the time to build kits these days!
Thanks. I stumbled upon this reasonably priced unmade one on ebay.
ReplyDeleteI'd ask what size the model is, but I guesse the answer is "How big or small do you want it ?" !
ReplyDeleteToo right, I'm never going to make another model using a microscope that's for sure!
