Hi
This is an update on my old 2021 post Paul's Haul, with further details of one of the models I picked up at an outdoor market, what in Britain would be called a Car Boot Fair.
Something I did not realise until it was pointed out by reader MJ Southcoast Base (thanks MJ) was that this model resembles the title aircraft in the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox (1982).
It is not an exact match, the nose is less angular, the fins are angled out more, and there are upturned winglets to both the main wings and the canard foreplanes. But the basic shape and layout are much the same.
The Matchbox model is part of the Sky-Busters line, and is called Twin Blast. I assume because it has two engines. Model number SB103. The copyright date on the underside is 2011. Made in Thailand, so there is the usual small elephant logo.
Only the white upper body, including the canards and fins, is metal. The wings, including the air intakes and the centres of the exhausts, are black plastic. The lower fuselage, including the square engine exhausts, is red plastic. Black plastic undercarriage, with metal axles.
Tampo printing only on the upper surfaces, including the SB103 number behind the cockpit. Other colour schemes have been issued. Length 115 mm, wingspan 91 mm. A nice, solid model.
Do you like it?
Yours Sincerely,
Paul Adams from New Zealand
Probably an intentional resemblance, as the Stealth Launch from the same series looks like the Talon fighter from the recent film 'Stealth'
ReplyDeleteLovely write up Paul. It's very Gerry Anderson that plane!
ReplyDeleteVery nice to see this variation. I've the orange metal body on black lower with black wings that looks sharp! I've also got the blue metal on red lower with white wings which looks nice and patriotic.
