This is a clip of an amazingly sleek toy. I assume its plastic but I'm unsure of the maker.
A little common I would say is the JR21 X-series version of the Spirit of America for the landspeed fan. I've got one in my collection.
Have you got any land speed record toys?
That was a great toy, it even has a working brake parachute. The only Land Speed Record models I have are a couple of the die-cast Lledo models - mine being unboxed. I picked them up at a collectors fair a few years ago. I notice the X50 Space Racer box says Friction Drive With Siren.
ReplyDeleteThe silver Breedlove toy is amazing Paul. I've certainly never seen one in the flesh. I was fascinated by land speed record cars as a kid. The superboats as well. Sadly we had the Campbell tragedy on Lake Windermere in the Lake District, not too far from where I lived. the X-50 is a lovely thing and yep, friction drive and siren. Its part of the X-series of plastic toys, which includes a space capsule, a robot, a rocket truck and a space bubble car to name a few. Very collectable. I wonder if they made it to NZ. LN certainly did!
DeleteNot exactly fast though! Isnt there a grey Hover version in friction drive too?
ReplyDeleteHmm. Youre right Batman. Theres 2 I reckon. Ones the Swallow.
