Is blue the colour of the plastic, or has the kit been painted ? The clear canopy has its frames in the same colour. Either way, a nice model. FAB 1 models do seem to come in colours other than pink, the latest Thunderbirds Are Go version is mainly pink, with a broad white centre stripe. But pink is the only proper colour.
Paul, that's a good question. I don't know if its painted. Imai kits are difficult to pin down online. I will check Dennis Nicholson's Gerry Anderson Guide Book or my 2 Japanese Anderson toy and model books.
One of the online hobby dealers had a blue Imai FAB-1 model kit for sale for several years, and I had it on my wish list, but I dawdled and it was snapped up by another. Now they are quite pricey. But it would have been a very cool model. I did manage to snag the regular pink FAB-1 from Imai, which I left in its original plastic color, because it is so cool. I did paint the stripes on the canopy, but otherwise I think I left everything "as is," which is unusual for me, because painting is what usually brings these beauties to life. I guess in theory, I could buy another pink FAB-1 model and paint it blue...

DeleteYes, to verify, Imai did release a version of the FAB-1 molded in Blue. I had my eye on one for years, but I let it slip away.
