Above is the Coot, the real life Scramble Bug going for a swim on You Tube. It looks quite hairy crossing that lake on an ATV! Would you have a go?
Anyone got an ATV, a real or toy one?
Seeing it made me wonder if the Century 21 Scramble Bug toy would actually float and 'swim' as the wheels turn. What do you think?
here's some short footage of the toy on dry land in Japan on You Tube.
No, thank you. Even crossing that little pond on a calm day was hard work (and the lady certainly did not look happy). You would not want to be in that in a river with a current, or on a beach. Dry land for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree Paul! It does look very hair raising!
DeleteHi Woodsy,
ReplyDeleteWhen I was much younger (in the early 70s) my Dad's friend had one of these. We would use it at his hunting camp. The two sections can rotate slightly sideways for rough ground. It was a blast! It actually floats and swims very well. It looked like the gentleman driving it didn't quite know how to to work it. There is a cult following for the Coots now in the US, as they have long been out of production, and they are very collectible.

I can see why they a cult item Jim. It must have been great fun with your dad's friend in a coot. Amphibious too! Stay healthy in Nevada and good luck in the pandemic.
