Hi again from the USA...Here's something unusual, A take apart space tank from the 60's. It's made of flexible plastic and about 5" long.
It's not marked by the manufacturer. I guess it's somewhat rare as I've only seen one of these before some years ago!
It was a welcome addition to my collection.
Clayton.

The construction and the colour scheme bring to mind Ideal's Fix-It Futuramic Ship. The base has also something about the Tudor Rose Atomic Space Ship to it. In any case, a wonderful toy in its own right. Congrats Clayton!
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean Arto. I was thinking Gilmark - like their Capttain Video toys. Or was it Renwal?
DeleteThe shape of the hull looks rather like a boat, the rubber sort with rigid sides. Lack of tracks means it is not a tank, only tracked vehicles can be called tanks, even if the British Army did use the term Wheeled Tank for its Armoured Cars at one point. It might even be a hovercraft, although as the crew are wearing spacesuits that is unlikely.
ReplyDeleteInteresting Paul. It may be a catamaran. Their are many double-hulled designs in early space toys especially tinplate. This looks like its from the golden age of plastic toys, the 1950's.
DeleteConsulting a friend of mine, it could be from a '50 Renwall Series...
