A while back I came upon the conceptual design work of Daniel Simon.

Simon has worked on a number of Hollywood films including Star Wars, Tron Legacy and Oblivion. His roots are in automotive design, however and his love of speed shows in the ultra-streamlined motors in his work.
Simon produced a lavish coffee table book - almost literally as it is huge - called Timeless Racer, which documents the exploits of the Masucci racing team in the near future circuits. The big colourful pages are a combination of studio photography matted together with high end 3D cgi imagery, making for very convincing splash pages of futuristic Le Mans style turbine race cars.
Taking his design expertise back into the real world, Daniel Simon was recently involved in designing an A.I driven racecar, which would be programmed to race against human and computer drivers on established circuits. Roborace is approaching its first season and hs moved from the initial test series, into full participatory races in the Uk and US.

In a smart marketing move, Simon and the Roborace team have released a copy of the first production car in the Hot Wheels range. Available in a range of liveries, the beautiful, streamlined car is a quite accurate representation of the full size beast.
