The first of a series of old paperback covers by Curtis Books featuring the GI Joe/ Action Man astronaut in all his silver glory.
The use of photographing toys by contemporary book publishers for their covers has a long history and is similar to the photo-box art on many Sixties and Seventies toy boxes.
Does anyone know how the photographer achieved this cover?
It's possibly a double exposure, Woodsy. This was a pre-digital method where a frame of film was exposed twice. Whether accidental or deliberate, the results could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteDouble exposures were sometimes used to make fake ghost images, but they were easy enough to see through :)
Thanks Tone. More Accy Man covers to come!
