Woodsy, your plastic space tank ATV is a mosh of sources

and up close ....
The front half is a copy of the cockpit portion of the Macross SD Valkyrie toy.
The cockpit bubble is missing, probably to make a seat area (based on empty slot behind the large opening in your picture which probably was an attachment point for a windshield bubble that opened and closed) and not try to duplicate the rotating cockpit of the original.
Here is the Maximilian Jenius version in flight mode

but the cockpit is rotated to the shield side for when it is actually in battroid mode.
The Max and Fokker versions in battroid form are also similar with the cockpits in flight mode revealing the interior.
I've got my SD (super deformed) VF-1S off in storage so here's a bunch of pics off the web, hope these work.

I'm not sure if Matchbox ever released the SD toys. They were responsible for a lot of original toys for the Robotech series although the ones they used the original molds for (SDF-1, Monster) they cut corners on.
The SDF-1 lacks all the launcher mechanisms and the Monster is all in 1 color.

ReplyDeleteI simply love how Japanese toy companies heavly used in their high end toys (like from early Super Sentai etc.) styrofoam and paper pulp (I know that some toys are delicate, but those are not EGGS) as stuffing in boxes.
Diecast limited edition collectors item worth few hundred thousands of Yen - still packed in cardboard and recycled paper pulp.
Really eclectic, now we just need to wait when Apple will start use straw as packaging for Iphones
Fascinating Ran. So you don't mind cheap household packagaing like newspaper and pulp? When I sell on Ebay I use lots of small boxes to fill spaces insode bigger boxes. These maybe from tea bags or oxo or rice crispies or chocolate. I often wonder if this is OK. What if someone I send something to like this has an allergy to say chocolate and the trace on the box gives them a reaction. What do you think? Its never happened and I often get positive feedback for my packaging skill!
DeleteI have always use buble wrap of different types and packing all items like some pro Tetris player.
DeleteNot sure if some aroma on toys could be dangerous even to somebody allergic, but it is right to always test if it is safe to everyone.
Here is one video of my package that I have send to a friend|
