Continuing the TV and Film vehicle knockoff theme today here's a good one.
The Space Flying Saucer 2001.
Looks like the Flying Sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea to me!
It has lots of added bits and a racing car driver!
The toy's features are all listed on the box.
Looks like it came in three colours and there appears to be a helicopter rotor as well!
Its all too much!
Anyways, I saw it Ebay ages ago.
What do you think?
I have always loved the design of the flying sub. This travesty looks like someone found an old one and turned it into a customised drag racer! Yuk!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bad one Kev!
DeleteWish id seen it, id have bought it andvtaken all the crap off it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure when I saw it on the Bay Bill.
DeleteI'll give you this one Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteA definite knock-off and a dreadful revamp.
How about that awful, out of scale, pilot (or is it Top Gear's 'The Stig') sticking his head out of the top hatch?
Shocking rubbish!
Mish.
Ha ha, yes, the Stig! Nice one Mish.
DeleteHorrible indeed but creative. Making the top opening would have been easy as the top hatch was a separate part on the model kit. They did put a bit of effort into it to louver over the window pane areas. Still nice to see this train wreck and I'd probably snag one for sheer shock value if it was cheap enough.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Lance. Collecting Flying Sub knockoffs could be fun. There's loads and this would fit right in!
