Trinag Spacex Box Art |
One of my biggest issues with Triang Spacex, is why the wonderful Nuclear Pulse was never made in the blue and red livery shown on the back of the card. So much so, that I took my original battered Pulse and painted it up, sometime in the 1980's, to resemble the picture. The Nuclear Pulse is my favourite Spacex Major toy by far and the box art is one of my favourite pieces of toy art, period.

I was especially pleased when Kevin Davies made a large scale 'realistic' variant of the Pulse, recently, but secretly disappointed that he retained the yellow colour scheme!
However, the talented and extremely generous craftsman that he is, Kev secretely built a second one and painted it in my preferred livery as a gift for me. I am now the very proud owner of my own Nuclear Pulse model, a fabulous rendition of the toy and very grateful to Kevin for his hard work and generosity.

A work of art by Kevin once more. Stunning! A superb gift too. You must have been thrilled Bill. Why do you think Spacex ditched the blue colour?
ReplyDeleteI think for reasons of economy Woodsy, the orange they used appears on other ships, but the blue plastic only really apppears on the Moonbase.
