Rained out at work and bored out of my skull, I decided to walk around and gawk at ToysRUs.
Naturally, I know where Godzilla is lurking and this glowing blue plasma G is awesome.
I also got a kick out of the Animal Planet Dark Forest playset.
I don't know what this Disney Mecha 4 is but I like the monsters.
I was completely blown away by the Star Wars Landspeeder kiddie car.
I would have traded in my tricycle for that pronto!
Lastly, a rare find in clearance! Thunderbirds are scarce in the States, but here's proof that if you look carefully enough, there they are!
$7.98 In U.S. dollars. Tell me if that's a good price when converted?
Brian F in NJ
When they first arrived here in the US, the separate ships were around $13 each here in Texas. You could get a 4 pack (TB 1, 2, 3, 4) for $30 but you stil had to buy Thunderbird S by itself. The figures ran around $9 but now are on clearance (if you can find them) for around $2.49. I think Brains with MAX is around $7 which is about half the original price. Tracy Island is a HUGE box that when I last saw one at my local TRU was on clearance for $59 which is about $40 off the original price. It is too large for my space so alas, no island for me but I did snag all the TBirds and a couple of the brothers along with Brains and Kayo.
ReplyDelete"no island for". Ha ha. I had to laugh at that Lance. Don't worry because everyman is an island! ha ha. Glad to see that Thunderbirds are Go had an avid following in the States! Oddly enough I saw the Tracy Island out of its box in a Second Hand Supermarket for Kids recently. It was huge you're right! I remember in the mid Nineties buying boxed Matchbox Tracy islands from car boot sales. You could get near mint examples for some reason after they'd been out a year. I once sold one to a fella in New Zealand. the shipping was astronomical. It would have been cheaper getting TB2 to take it! I still have a loose Matchbox Tracy Island in the attic. the talking portraits at the back were always a neat feature.
Deleteomg the landspeeder!!!!!!! ew :)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing EW. Quick, get it before Luke shows up! he's still at the Tosche Station picking up power converters!
DeleteI looked into this Mech X 4 thing(I misspelled it above).Apparently it is a Disney Production about some teens who operate a giant robot and defend the world from giant monsters.Sounds like an enjoyable show.I definitely like the toys!
ReplyDeleteCheers Brian. Just catching up. Sounds like a great premise for a show and very Japan-influenced. I actually found that anime Godzilla on Netflix last night too. I'll check out the 1000 foot Zilla!
