Astronit kindly sent in this picture for us to drool over!
They are what we know as the Nova rockets but these are made by Durham and not Tarheel. They are also blister carded as opposed to the usual boxes of the Tarheel range.
These three Novas really are lovely.
Years ago I became interested in the possible relationship between Durham and Tarheel http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/durham-and-tarheel-toys.html
and the theory was enhanced by the discovery of a Durham Space Glider from the Project SWORD range, a range we usually associate with Tarheel in America.
Have you any Durham toys?
another great score by the mighty Astronit! These are among my favourite space toys, especially with their Spacex anf Anderson connections. Cookoos again, Id say Woodsy!
ReplyDeleteThey are cool. Coincidentally the the Anderson links are described in a short article in the latest Andersonc fanzine, which I helped out with! I wonder of Durham did any other SWORD toys besides the Space Glider? Imagine!
Deleteor Cuckoos..
ReplyDeleteI own two of the Nova III rockets and they are in rough to horrible shape. I've been thinking of combining the best parts of each to make a halfway decent one while the worst one might end up modded a lot into something like a super thunderbird 2 or such. I've seen one Nova I (on the card!) in the wild here and they wanted $200 for it. I've yet to run across a Nova II.
ReplyDeleteI saw a couple of loose Novas last year Lance. On Ebay. Badly beaten up. Your idea of a nova donor sounds good. If you do perform the operations why not photograph each stage for us lot on MC? We'd love to see. I've never seen these Durham carded versions until last year when they forst turned up on Ebay. The Tarheel versions are in window boxes. By the way, we could ask on the blog if you want for any spares for your other Nova. Up to you.
