The Airfix Stingray is as rare as hen's teeth. Even rarer is the Kitmaster Fireball XL5 kit. Can't believe the moulds for these are long gone. What a waste.
I was going to say the same thing when I saw the title in my feed . . . Yorkie - I think the paint has aged quite well, apart from the window-bars not being filled in, it looks like it's spent a few years under water chasing devil-fish or whatever they were called!
Yes,an Airfix Stingray alright. I seem to recall that this sold for around £120 on Ebay at the time. I'm fortunate to own both an Airfix Stingray and the Kitmaster XL5 --both are fabulous models. The conning tower on the Stingray has been put on the wrong way 'round too !......but that colour scheme..
It's the extremely rare Airfix kit from 1965(mail order only) painted really badly.
ReplyDeletewell spotted Yorkie! Mystery solved. I will have to look that model up. I certainly never had one. Did you?
DeleteYes, it was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteLuckily these days some model shops sell a putty that will take off paint!

ReplyDeleteI only had the Fairylite Stingray as a kid.
