One thing I was impressed with was this FAB GROOVES double LP, which features some easy listening tunes from Barry Gray and Derek Wadsworth.
It comes with a glossy inner sleeve with the track listings and some nice photos. Although all the tracks are available on other Fanderson soundtrack CD's this is a real cool compilation, perfect for driving back to Shado HQ, or just relaxing on Tracy Island.
For those without a record player (and this is the clever bit) it comes with it own 'free' CD so you can listen to the tracks with disturbing the quality vinyl. As this is exclusive club merchandise this item is, of course only available to Fanderson members.
Most Captain Scarlet fans should know about the two books that have been recently released celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the series.
The first is another excellent Vault book, this time written by Chris Bentley, and full of information and photos about the filming of the iconic series.
Plus, as is expected in Vault books, lots of great photos of the original sixties merchandise.
The second book is the Spectrum Agents Manual by Haynes. It's written by Sam Denham, with some imaginatively detailed cutaway drawings by Graham Bleathman.
It's also packed with some nice original photos from the series, something I'm always happy to see.
Another fine piece of new merchandise for those who collect figures is this Captain Scarlet from Big Chief Studios.
This stunning model has movable eyes, lighted epaulettes, and some nice box art by Lee Sullivan in the style of Mike Noble.
Plus a couple of items that were part of the convention pack - A Big Finish magazine featuring an article about their Captain Scarlet audio adventures based on the sixties books written by John Theydon, and a special edition TV21, which contained articles about TV21's first year, the woman of SHADO, and a Project Sword story called The Secret Island.
Almost forgot, we also got these smashing little facsimiles of the Thunderbird and Captain Scarlet press books - very collectable!

A feast for sure scoop! The vault looks ace. Was the sword story illustrated?
ReplyDeleteIt used an illustration from the annual.
DeleteThanks. Those press book are lovely. They've really gone to town on the con exclusives haven't they!
