From US reader Brian:
Your Action Man article prompted me to go spelunking in the attic for my Joe.
He is the Kung Fu grip Land Adventurer. Also we have a mummy and the star of Search for the Abominable Snowman!
The footlocker was customized by my dad using his dog tag numbers (not complete).
And as a bonus, I found a familiar face, Scott Tracy. This came to me in a random lot from New York city superstore Toy Tokyo many years ago but that's another story in itself!
Brian
Joe's been up in your attic for so long, he's grown a beard. (Yeah, I know he came that way, just funnin'.)
ReplyDeleteI have actually grown a beard this summer as I have had six weeks off school! Its coming off tomorrow. I quite like my summer action man beards. just need a cheek scar and gripping hands too!
DeleteJoe and his companions have certainly been well preserved in that priceless locker box over the decades, Brian. Nice to see them here :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Tony. A precious thing that's survived the decades Brian.
DeleteI wish there was more to share but Joe was a toy that ofter got buried in sand, submerged in water, thrown from trees(the chute often didn't deploy)these guys are lucky to be whole today.I am enjoying sharing these toys with such a worthy bunch.I also enjoy learning about your pasts and contrasting cultures from 2 places half a planet apart.Good times!
ReplyDeleteWe're all enjoying the transatlantic repartee as well Brian. Keep those pictures comin!
Deletei have had a GJ-Joe when i was a child, but he's missing in action,no more notices of him... :( ew
ReplyDeleteah, that's a shame EW! I just hope all those lost Joes and Action men have met up somewhere and enjoying a well-earned retirement playing chess and drinking milk!
