We seem to be lurching from one crisis to another here at Moonbase!
First runaway humidity and now blasted fleas!
The Moonbase Mutt Blue has an infestation of the little stowaways!
The Lunar Vet has given him an injection, loaded us up with dog pills and taken ninety of our best shiny pounds for the privilege.
We also had to procure Flea Spray for Moonbase and some anti-flea bits for the hoover so the little critters don't breed in the dust bag and we don't need to chuck it after every daily vac!
All in all we are well over a ton worse off and Moonbase smells like an operating thearte after spraying the sofas and carpet with the big can.
OK, thats excessive moisture we are turning round, fleas we are driving back, so what's next? The Moonbase supply of Cream Soda going off? Nah, that's just too awful to think about!
Have you had a flea crisis? or maybe a flea circus?
PS. I wonder if fleas have ever gone into space on board a US, Russian or Chinese mission? Can they survive? Are they on the International Space Station I wonder? They'll need a damn big can of spray!

We have a cat but she's an indoor cat. However that has not stopped the occasional flea invasion. They will jump on you if they are in grass and you walk through it. Then once in your house, they spread. We use Revolution for the cat as it has medicine to prevent heart worms also. A two person job as one has to hold her while the other applies it to the back of her head near the base of the skull. As for house issues, we have used diatomaceous earth with great results. You sprinkle it into the carpet and essentially let is sit for a day then vacuum it up. Works great to stop ant intrusions also. I just sprinkle it around the area they are intruding in from. ReplyDeleteAccording to the Mrs, the down side is you need to keep your pet away from it. She knows more about organic stuff than me so I defer to her wisdom.
I have never heard of diatomaceous earth Lance! A new one on me! I shall look it up. We are vaccing every day and spraying the two sofas the doggy had access to. Blue's looking miserable as he's banned from upstairs and his favourite double bed for a week until we get red if the little beasties! Always best to defer to a lady's wisdom I agree! Makes for a happier partnership!
DeleteUsed to get human fleas when I worked abroad (in rather rough conditions). We tried everything to stop them, even wearing cat flea collars round our ankles- just had to live with them, and they seemed to disappear back in UK.
ReplyDeleteThat's because they didn't have FLISAS, the flea's visa Andy! ha ha
