New Jersey reader and Cheers fan Brian has dug out some info on those Cheers actors we were discussing this morning here on MB!
Brian says:
John Ratzenberger, above, of Cheers fame had roles in these horror/sci fi flicks. He played a "guy in a toga" in Warlords of Atlantis!
And a punk rocker in a delightfully sickening tale called Motel Hell, concerning a pair of farmers who turn the guests at their country inn into sausages!
George Wendt (NORM!) ....
.... deserves a shout out for his role in HOUSE too!
Woodsy says as an aside: I've blogged about the excellent movie House and its vintage toy props and lead actor William Katt before. He first made a splash as Tommy Ross, the doomed arm-candy of Sissy Spacek's Carrie.
He was also auditioned for the role of Luke Skywalker, which amazingly is still available for viewing on You Tube!
Taking the subject further,I risk sounding a bit like Ratzenberger's Know- it -all character Cliff Claven, but it's all for the love of trivia,so here it goes:Cheers star Ted Dansen played a vengeful surf-zombie in Creepshow. His first love interest on Cheers,Shelley Long, played opposite Ringo Starr in the delightfully absurd Caveman.Later love interest Kirsty Alley starred in a remake of Village of the Damned with Christopher Reeve and gets attacked by homicidal robots in Runaway with Tom Seleck and Gene Simmons of Kiss fame(!)All are favorite movies of mine and will probably viewed within the next week, as Hurricane Season promises some residual crappy weather around here!
ReplyDeleteFab stuff Bri, a carnival of creepiness for sure! Danson's scream queens! I;ve seen Creepshow and Village of the Damned but none of the others! The list is growing! Batten down the hatches and get the vids out!
