I recently saw these online, Star Date 1999 Pocket Fighters.
The design looks like a mash-up of Thunderbird 4 and the Mole with some 2000AD graphics thrown in. They were made in China and released by Playmakers in 1994, a company based just west from me in the East Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough.
Do you think they were cashing in on the new wave of Thunderbirds mania in the early 1990's still?
They appear to be directly related to another line we've featured before in 2012, the Rocket Fighters kindly sent in by reader and renowned collector Bill Earle.
Looks like Rocker Fighters and Pocket Fighters are more or less the same. Have you seen them before readers?
Bill's take on them in 2012:
Hi Woodsy
Not sure whether your web site has dealt with Rocket Fighters as of yet. In case it hasn't then I'm attaching images showing two which I own. The designs for these appear to have been heavily influenced by Thunderbirds; not unlike Thunderbird 7 which was inspired by craft from Project SWORD.
