I took these pictures tonight as the local farmer took in his wheat harvest next to the house. It was dusk to start with...
... and then the sky went black as the thunderclouds grew.
I love the space-age look of farm vehicles and combined harvesters at night look like something NASA dreamed up!
Do you like farm vehicles readers?
I'd agree with you, Scoop, if it weren't for the blighter tilling the fields across from me and making a ruckus at 10pm-2am. Dark harvest indeed, and makes me wonder why those hours are so popular, also at your end?

Its me Paul, Woodsy. These were taken about 8.30pm. Ot was dusk when they starred and went pitch black around 8.30 as the storm clouds gathered over West Yorkshire. I've not known them to harvest later than 9pm around here. It is very noisy when they come near the house and the air is filled with cut chaff!
DeleteI -do- beg your pardon, Woodsy (and Scoop), looks like I'll have to succumb to reading glasses after all... Or it's coz iirc Scoop has open fields opposite his place same as me. Or it's senility. Or all of the above! :)
DeleteYes, noisy. Particularly at night when sound carries farther... so I'm glad your neighbourhood farmer keeps more civilised hours then.

A nice eerie nocturnal sci fi feel to these pics. Looks like 'They' have landed, Woodsy :)
ReplyDeletethe aliens have landed and they're all farmers Tone! ha ha. The design of the combined harvester doesn't seem to have changed in decades. I recall having a cheap plastic yellow one when I was a kid as well as a die-cast Matchbox one.
Deletehi,i have had a red one by matchbox.. EW
Deleteyes, that red Matchbox one was great EW. Lovely little toy.
