the Cyclone of Ufo header card is the Ultrahawk (?) Ultramans ship and the little saucer like ship is possibly from Mazinger, yet another show.
ReplyDeleteCheers Bill. I don't recognise the green one at all.
ReplyDeleteI am just amazed at what Moonbasers know about so many types of toys here on Moonbase.
ReplyDeleteI bought it years ago as I liked the colour of the pink Interceptor/ultra hawk and did not even know what it was.
so thanks for the Info Bill
I am continually being amazed by this web site at how Gerry Anderson's shows were received and marketed in Japan. As a youngster, I would have loved a lot of the smaller toys as shown here- but I presume they were never imported.
ReplyDeleteThe ultrahawk is the little silver kit in each bag. And yes, I agree Andy, the Japanese love of these small toys back then and now is phenomenal. Your'e right, we'd have loved pocket money toys like these as kids! Is it possible that Gerry Anderson was/is loved even more there than in the UK?
ReplyDeleteDigging further, the yellow ship in the bottom right bag is Ultrahawk No.3. I've looked for a Mazinger ship Bill but can't find that green one. The cartoon looks fab though!
ReplyDeleteIn Japan from what I have seen over the last 30 years is that not only do the Japanese public love their toys but they have a very high regard/love for all things Gerry Anderson, this amazingly includes equal amounts of males and females, I have never seen anything on this scale of collectors anywhere else in the world that I have been to.
ReplyDeleteAlso in Japan, the toy places have the man at the shop front but the most of the time there is a great powerful lady in the background steering the business.
They even had almost all of the British GA publications translated and published in the Japanese language also remember they are the only country in the world who keeps on manufacturing GA toys to date.
The 2 latest things are the 50cm Megafosubi TB2 and a magazine in 80 parts which includes parts in each Issue of a giant TB2!!! simply wonderful
Fascinating insights SWORDgrasshopper. Do Japanese toy shops split into modern toy shops and the occasional vintage toy shop like they do here in the UK or are they mixed and do both?
DeleteWould be interesting to see pictures of those!
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what we can do Andy.
