Along with our German collectables we also brought home a goodly supply of teutonic delectables and a smattering of Dutch treats to keep Moonbase personnel happy over the coming months.
The goods include potato dumplings [Knoedel], apple sauce, sauerkraut, semolina [Gries], noodles [Spaetzle], spiced ketchup and Veltins and Konig Pilsner beers to name but a few.
In Maasluis in Holland we sampled the local delicacy of Kroketten [deep fried breadcrumbed pasties stuffed with chicken supreme amongst other things] and purchased spiced breakfast cake, aniseed powder for toast [Muisjes] and based on a tip from Mr. Vreede, two bottles of the local soft drink, Hero brand Cassis, blackcurrant flavour.
A hearty "Yum yum yum" can be heard round Moonbase!
Well jealous!
ReplyDeleteProject SWORD Mars Mission supply complete!
ReplyDeleteWatching his facebook page, Wotan's just bringing a hangover back!
ReplyDeleteI don't do facebook Hugh but I can imagine the grand scale of his inebriation! Its a funny thing with holidays, no matter how much you enjoy yourselves and how long you stay away, you have to come home to whatever you left behind, the theory being that batteries will be recharged and raring to go. I'm not so sure!
DeleteSo how did you all like the Cassis then?
ReplyDeleteWe brought back 6 bottles which were gone in 2 days!
Best -- Paul
You were right, the Cassis is quite delicious Paul. One bottle went within 24 hours. Trying to save the last one for friends to try on Sunday. It'll be hard!
DeleteYou're makin' me hungry Woodsy!!!
ReplyDeleteha ha. We had a German feast last night Ed, you'd have liked. Potatoes, Schwarzewurzeln and Mettwurst with white sauce. Sweet was Apfelmus mit Steusel. Yum! There's plenty more of you wanna come round!
