Some photos of the upgraded Chinook HC4 flown by 27 Squadron based at RAF Odiham in Hampshire.
It's a muscular looking tandem rotor helicopter that provides heavy-lift support and transport.
This newly upgraded version is shown for the first time on this years air show circuit, with the crew demonstrating it's impressive performance.
A wave to the crowd.
A shot showing the rear ramp door open.
And an even bigger wave!
Beautiful shots Scoop! The chinook is iconic for sure. I love the red flashes on the fuselage. Very stylish.I had a Marx Chinook for a while. A superb toy. Its an American Indian word isn't it, Chinook?
ReplyDeleteThanks Woodsy. The marx toy sounds good, is it the one altered and used in Thunderbirds.
ReplyDeleteAs to the word Chinook, it might well be an American Indian word, as there is a Chinook indian tribe.
That is awesome! I see these 'banana hubschraubers' very occasionally here at Nellis but never can get shots of them in flight.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to be right at the front on Blackpool beach, and this helicopter is BIG! It put on quite a display, perfect for taking snaps.
