Hello readers, now something a little different. In conjunction with John Lawrence, agent and publisher of Ron Turner, we have here a competition in the form of a quiz all about the great man himself. There are six questions about the artist Ron Turner and the first reader to answer all six will receive a prize. John Lawrence has set the questions and he will check the answers. John's decision will be final.
The prize will be a brand new copy of this, Volume 4. the latest Ron Turner's Space Ace magazine published by John earlier this year.
The 40 pages of Volume 4 are in the main devoted to a beautifully restored 24 page reprint of the rarely-seen Ron Turner story, The Island Universe and wonderfully colourised by John Ridgeway. There is also an interview with Ron Turner himself by John Lawrence, who had unique access to the artist having been his agent. Many leading comics sites have applauded John's previous volumes 1 -3 and volume 4 is no different, equally praised by Down The Tubes, Bear Alley and Lew Stringer.
Here is a sample page from Space Ace volume 4, the opening of The Island Universe.
Space Ace normally retails for £8.95 in the UK and £14 overseas, so winning a minty copy is no mean thing. [To purchase this magazine from John direct - the stated prices include postage - then pay via PayPal to spaceace.54@virginmedia.com or cheque or postal order to John Lawrence, 39 Carterweys, Dunstable, Beds. But let's get back to the quiz so you can win a copy! Answer ALL 6 questions and submit them in the comments form at the base of this post. As said, the first 6 answers given correctly and deemed so by John Lawrence will win. There is just one prize and no others. The time of your answers will be the time shown on the blog comments.
Answers MUST be received by this Thursday, the 16th July, 7pm UK time [GMT+1]. As I am going on holiday for 3 weeks the winner will be notified in early August once John has judged the entries and his decision will be final. The winner's prize will be shipped in August. Good luck and Space Ace!
