As the Athena venue had plenty of open space many of the puppets had their own replica sets.
This highly detailed set shows Brains in a scene from Thunderbirds episode, The Cham-Cham, and was built by Andy Grishaw and Jeff Gaskell.
Another lovely recreation. Here's 'Nosey' Parker with Light-Fingered Fred doing porridge!
This photo of Joe McClaine with the Rat Trap in the background is a set up recreating a 1993/94 Brighton display restoration courtesy of Chris Carter.
Puppeteers Judy Preece and Richard Gregory appeared on stage, showing the tricks of the trade with their puppetry demonstrations.
The highlight was a practical demonstration of the state-of-the-art puppet of Sam Scott from Anderson Entertainment's proposed new series, Fire Storm.
This remarkable puppet looks fantastic, and takes puppeteering to a whole new level.
They look great Scoop. Athena looks like a really neat venue for Andercon too. Is Fire Storm green for go now?
ReplyDeleteThere's been a lot of progress Woodsy. Test film was shown of the puppet's body and face movements.
ReplyDeleteHow come theve gone back to the disproportionate body contours again? The big head looks ridiculous. After the ultra realism of Scarlet and the disastrous reception of Terrahawks, Id have thought it must be a simple decision. I can understand the early sixties puppets using the big head to fit the mechanisms, but today it seems unecessary. Even the new Tbirds retains the iconic look, but it a sensibly proportioned figure
ReplyDeleteThese new puppets have extra sollinoids which give the puppets a range of facial expressions so to accommodate those the head has to be a certain size , plus the general consensus appears to be the out of proportion head is more popular.
