Another great Summer pastime was playing on the swing. back in the Sixties they where everywhere: parks, recs and gardens. We had one at home, a big metal framed thing at the top of our lawn. Swinging was hypnotic and once the right lean, bend and stretch had been mastered you could go for hours before Mum shouted 'Tea time'!
"how do you get on this thing?"
"C'mon Mum, get pushin'!"
Did you enjoy a good swing readers or maybe a good ride down a slide?
I loved my swing, closest Icould get to flying. It was a frame like yours, bolted to the side of the house. My dad took it with us, when we left Dingle in 1969 and fixed it up at the new house. Simple pleasures.. btw is that a martian tripod approaching at the back wall, left side?
ReplyDeleteI have been known to use public swings in the evening, after the youngsters have left!
