I remember being starving and devouring a jam butty [sandwich] and a glass of milk or Vimto more or less as soon as I walked in at 3pm.
Sometimes I had 'projects' on the go at home so I couldn't wait for School to finish. I once wrote out a huge paper scroll in Chinese on the floor of my bedroom. It was on a piece of wallpaper. I was obsessed with ancient China and martial arts, hence the scroll. You wouldn't believe how excited I was to get back home and carry on doing it!
My brothers used to tease me about my 'projects'. They do seem to have been a feature of my life. I reckon this blog is probably a project too!
I still have a butty and a drink when I get home from work but nowadays the drink is tea rather than milk for some reason.
So readers, what did you do when you got home from School [ and when did you get home?]
I still can't get it that you were home by 3?! :) Are we talking infants/junior or secondary school here? Anyhoo- we finished at 3.50pm. Home by say 4.45, walk and wait for the bus until I got a bike and cycled home - back by 4.20. It was a rush to get home in time to see say 'The Tomorrow People' or 'Thunderbirds'. If hungry I used to watch them while eating a jumbo sandwich - triple decker salad, cheese, ham, chicken. I must have got the idea from watching Scooby Doo. Then after Roobard or Magic Roundabout or something (about 5.40) it was half an hour homework. Then dad would arrive just after 6, we'd have tea and then about 6.30 I'd have another half hour or hour of homework. In summer I could then play out. In the dark winter it was just watching TV or playing indoor board games.
