Just to clarify what some of the things I picked up in Bolton toyfair, here's a brief article about a couple of them. Matchbox ran a series a few years ago called Mission Bravo which were a spin off from the earlier Mega Rig series, but this time purely military. The line was quite expansive and generally featured a large vehicle with various 'action features' such as a hull which converted into a secret base or a transforming vehicle. The figures were about golden astronaut scale and simply articulated. There were various mercenary factions in clear liveries and a load of vehicles.
The blue jeep and gun I picked up for 30p is probably what Tony Stark would refer to as a 'fun-vee', a Hummer variation with pop up rocket launcher which can be removed to show a hidden gun mount. The little cannon has a steel plate built into the top to allow the copters magnetic winch to airlift it. The patrol boat has a flip down hydrofoil and twin torpedo launchers.
All the vehicles use the same style missile, so after you bombard you're mate with a rain of plastic fire, he can shoot you right back with your own ordnance.
Some of my favourite and previously collected pieces include the Strike Jet, Sand Tiger heavy tank and the cool Arctic Fox missile tank!
Wotan, is that blue and tan Mission Bravo "FunVee" variant of the Humvee for sale? Name your price. Eric "Taz4inc" Raquidan Dial.
ReplyDeletehey Eric, generally anything on the blog is not intended for sale.
DeleteThen I can trade you the red variant and the woodland camouflage version as well, both brand new and sealed in package if not willing to sell along with super rare items in my Facebook albums. I'll even spot all postage. Not bad for your 30p purchase that will be displayed in my museum of the World's Largest Collection of Humvees with credit given to Wotan.
DeleteHi Eric - as I said, I dont tend to sell or trade, its just too much hassle. Bill (wotan)
DeleteI find these pretty interesting as an avid collector of mission bravo. The humvee and both boats I've never seen in those colors. Or the strike jet in any form. Quite neat to see.
ReplyDeleteHello, do you know whether the jet was unreleased? I can’t seem to find any information regarding the green and tan jet displayed in the photos. Look forward to hearing from another avid collector!
ReplyDeleteA good question Austin. I'm assuming the jet is MB, but I could be wrong. I doubt it, as it's trademarked the same and came in a loose lot with other MB toys. I just did a quick search and could only see the Tilt Rotor and Blackbird, but the Jet is much smaller and in scale with the boat. I doubt it's a one off though. Cheers Bill
DeleteThank you for the response. Could you provide some more photos of the plane and the pilot? It would would really help in my search for tracking down a plane for myself! Thank you, Austin!
