Here's an interesting thing I saw online, a carry case of plastic figures made by Tara Toy Corporation of Glendale, New York from 1983. Of interest to our readers will be the bootleg LP robots and Colourforms Outer Space Men.
Personally I've never seen this or any other Tara sets before but it is a neat idea for kids. I would have loved it! It comes with some plastic dinosaurs and a play mat. The graphics look like a mash-up of He-Man and Defenders of the Earth. The name 'Dark Adventure' fits the figures perfectly.
The item description stated that it is a rare set but missing some card pieces. It also has " the small 1" robot figurines based on the original Giant toy series of spacemen, as well as all six 2" black plastic figures based on the Colorforms OSM: Alpha 7, Commander Comet, Colossus Rex, Electron, Orbitron and Zodiac. No Astro Nautilus based figure was ever created for this set."
It amazes me just how often the LP Robots and Outer Space Men were recycled and here they are again in 1983. Can there be any later than this?
Anyone else have any Tara sets or any knowledge of them readers?
Y chihuahua!
ReplyDeleteTara are still going, so you could try asking them, my experience of asking HK companies about their past piracy is not good though!!
ReplyDeleteI think they also made the Cuties for Mattel?...

That's an interesting concept. Putting playsets in briefcases is nothing new, Marx and Ideal had done it in the sixties, but a compact case with a roll up playmat is neat.
