When did garage sales/ yard sales/ car boot sales/ jumble sales start exactly? Is it possible that our parents might have got hold of second hand toys in the Sixties and Seventies if they'd have wanted to?
I don't remember car boot sales in the Seventies but I'm sure there were jumble sales. How far back does rummaging for second hand and collectable toys go in your part of the world do you reckon readers?

I remember in primary school buying a second hand Captain Scarlet pistol from a bring and buy sale, that must've been around 69 or 70.
ReplyDeleteThe school I attended had an annual jumble sale, at least from the early 1960s. I developed a taste for 1950s comic annuals thanks to this. They also sold toys, though I don't remember any in particular.
