Wander off the worldwide beaten track of Ebay and you can stumble across some great lots in other online Auction Houses. You may not be able to afford the items or you may be too late but, like me, you can always simply window shop!
Growing up next to Preston Docks, boats and toy boats have always been a particular passion of mine and online auctions are a great place to see them. Vectis is no exception and here's a great group shot from 2007 showing at least two makes of interest to this blog: a T in a Circle Hydrofoil [refered to here as T Toys] and, with it's possible links to JR21, the curious SH of Hong Kong.
"Hong Kong made electrically powered plastic Boats (1) T Toys Hydrofoil Boat - white, brown, red, (2) MIC Vacationer Motorboat - blue, white, (3) SH Toys Air Sea Rescue Launch with searchlights - grey, red, black, with RAF roundels, (4) SH Toys Pleasure Cruiser - white, red, brown. Also included is a model of the Oakley Lifeboat as sold by the RNLI - boats vary between 20-25cm long and are generally Excellent to Near Mint ex shop stock items in Good illustrated packaging. (5)"
The SH Hong Kong logo can just be made out on the top left corners of the last two boxes. It's like a )$(
As I've talked about before it's connection to JR21 is largely based on it's location alongside their diamond monogram on the underside of the typhoon racing bike combo [below] model no.301.
Other online appearances, largely on Vectis, include a Merehall Camper Van [blue undercarraige shown below], boxed Aquacar and Tug Boat. So just who were SH or SIH or HIS of Hong Kong?
Next up is this live lot over at Bonhams. Unusually we get two 'Moon Rangers', the Century 21 lunar dozer and the T in a Circle circular spaceship. There's a C21 Prospector and a New Flying Saucer, either T in a Circle or the JR21 version. Your auction head's up provided by Maverick Collecting/WOTAN
"Century 21 toys battery operated Moon Prospector and Moon Ranger .....SJM Taiwan Piston Robot and Super Astronaut, Horikawa Attacking Martian & four flying saucers ......"
