WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL AS A KID?

I never thought about food when I was a nipper in the Sixties. I think about it all day long now! ha ha

Back then I reckon my favourite meal would have been steak pudding, chips, marrowfat peas and gravy from a chip shop. Lovely!

My favourite home-cooked meal would have been liver and onions with buttery mashed potatoes. Yum!

My fave pudding was butterscotch instant whip. Delishious!

ARE THERE ANY TOY ADS ON TV?

I never see adverts for toys on TV anymore!

For a Sixties Baby Boomer baby like me this is odd indeed. We were weaned on TV toy ads! That's how we knew what to get!

If there are any on British TV these days I certainly never see them! Maybe they have their own channel!

APOLLO MOON EXPLORING MADE IN CHINA?

I know many of you have bought these Apollo Moon Exploring- style cake toppers since they first surfaced, especially on Etsy. I got some too and I was well pleased.

Mine were labeled Made in China on the bases.

Does anyone have any idea who might be still making these in China?

REMEMBERING ALPHA 2014

I've just pre-ordered the Space 1999 season 2 soundtrack from Fanderson which put me in mind of the excellent Alpha 2014 Space 1999 convention  which took place in Peterborough over the 12th to the 14th  of September, 2014.

I had a great time, and met loads of fellow 1999 fans including those talented folk who make up the All Sections Alpha modellers, who spend a lot of their time building full scale replicas of sets and models  from Space 1999

Here's a photo of the lads in the display room.

MEXICAN BREAKFAST CEREALS IN THE STYLE OF ED VALIGURSKY'S MAN AND SPACE AND THE PROJECT SWORD MOON BASE PLAY SET

I've blogged about Mexican R and L cereal space premiums before here for example. The regular R and L premium websites don't appear to cover them.

As I've just got hold of the Mexican Nova model I thought I'd look at them again.

Basically my gut feeling is that these Mexican models were largely inspired by Ed Valigursky's prototype SpaceX and SWORD art.

See what I mean in this schematic that I've done comparing models and paintings.

I can't find any images of the model buildings, bottom left, actually built up so here are my two sketches of what they might look like.

Interestingly the Exploration Module appears in the Project SWORD Moon Base Set illustration top right.

Another Mexican model is this Saturn V with base.
