I never see adverts for toys on TV anymore!
For a Sixties Baby Boomer baby like me this is odd indeed. We were weaned on TV toy ads! That's how we knew what to get!
If there are any on British TV these days I certainly never see them! Maybe they have their own channel!
Are there any toy ads on TV where you are readers?
There are loads on CITV and presumably other independent children's channels too.
ReplyDeleteYup tons on all the kids channels
ReplyDeleteSeen the thunderbird range and many more.
Kevin and Tony, I had no idea that Kids TV had been completely hived off onto other channels. OK, a bit maybe but not the lot including toy adverts! No wonder I never see any! ha ha. So is this separation of kids TV working?
ReplyDeleteBarbie over here, except at Christmas. That's on the regular channels. The kid channels have more, but I don't watch them for the most part. I still remember some of the toy jingles from when I was a kid, like GI Joe and Marvel the Mustang!

You had toy ads years before us in the UK I reckon Jim. I love watching them on You Tube. I don't recall Marvel the Mustang though. Was that a toy car?
DeleteIt's great for the kids except they want the channel onconstantly, best if you have 2 tellys.
ReplyDeletekids TV room! Yes! I remember when as a kid on the Sixties we started to get extra TV's. The main one was in colour and that was in my Mum and Dad's 'telly' room. The breakfast room had a portable black and white stationed in the alcove and the boys room [3 sons in the family] or lounge had a black and white TV on legs. Happy days. Never had a TV in my bedroom though. None of us did at home.
