Spy or Sport? A Gun too Far?

Being a boomer boy I love toy guns. I always did and that allure has never faded.

However a toy I saw on eBay entered that grey area, where a toy maybe something more realistic. 

This cased Masudaya SS5 is such an item

Looking at it it doesn't have the plastic innocence of say the Secret Sam attache case that I had or a James Bond toy gun set.

It could be an actual sport gun rather than a toy?

LAST MINUTE TRIP TO CROMFORD COMIC CON

 Although I didn't intend to visit Cromford Mills Comic Con this year, I've had last minute second thoughts. So, next Sunday I'll be there  enjoying what's on, and clicking away taking a few photos. 

I know one or two of you on here like to attend too, so I might just see you there.

A Mars a Day

 I'm the late 60's Wernher Von Braun one day had a dream of spaceships going to Mars. 

Artists painted it like this gorgeous pair of boostered craft from the Marshall Space Flight Center.

 An equally superb duet of white, black and gold Mars ships commissioned by NASA ( there maybe an artist's name in the right corner)

And here's another gorgeous artwork - of the eventual Mars lander - from the Marshall Space Flight Center. I love it. With it's little ramp, stowed rover and different rooms.

I'd have made this from a screwball ice cream tub as a kid!

Emergency Squad: UFO Knockoff?

 I recall buying one of these in the late 80's for a friend's son. At the time I didn't see the connection with a UFO Shado2 to be honest.

That came around 1993 when I got Dennis Nicholson's guide to Anderson collectables. Dennis pointed out the similarity to the UFO vehicle.

Do you think it's a string similarity?

A complete one came with a small hollow vehicle, which this example of mine is missing.

The Incredible Bulk

My Grandson has been telling me about his spare Pokémon cards He's got loads.

He was telling me a large excess group is called bulk. I guess a bulk lot.

I was thinking of similar words in the vintage toy world. I suppose bulk would work too for a large group of spares. 

One of my favourite toy words is deadstock, which I used to associate with the clearance shelf at ToysRUs, an area I often hung around in the 1990's when I had a TRU gold card! 

I saw some deadstock at the local boot sale yesterday. Boxes and boxes of mint bagged Scooby Do happy meal toys. I have to admit I was tempted by a box full! 

What's your favourite toy or collectables word? 

Mystery American Truck

oK, I've now seen this truck in two different American sci-fi shows., the series Falling Skies and the DC movie The Flash, being the truck that nearly runs over the girl outside the pet shop near the start. 

Anyone recognize this truck? Excuse the poor screenshot.
