The Thing Expanded!
Were you Ever Envious of Someone Else's Toys?
It's true. You can't possibly have everything as a kid.
I had my eye on something my cousin Andy had. He'd got it from a relative in the States circa 1967 or 8. I'm not even sure you could get it in Blighty!
Yep, envy. Green I was.
The toy was the magnificent and marvellous Strange Change Machine!
He could make his own dinosaurs!
God how I wanted it!
Still do!
Ring any bells?
Heavy Metal
Three of my larger fast cars. The orange one has been repainted. I would have played for hours with these as a kid but looking back smaller Superfast and Hot Wheels were easier to play with.
What do you reckon? Big or little cars?
Garden Platoon
Oh I'd have loved this auctioned army set as a kid.
Helmet, flask, billy. There's even a tent I think!
Yep, I loved playing army with my mates back in the day. Full scale battles in the garden!
Did you?

Fallout's Bellringers
I'm thoroughly enjoying a rewatch Of Prime's superb sci-fi series Fallout.
Have you seen it?
It really has got everything I enjoy. The American Nineteen Fifties dream. The Apocalypse. Nuclear bunkers. Wastelands. Cowboys. Goody Two Shoes. Cyborgs, Ghouls and mutated monsters. The super-wholesome fifties American song book is fantastic too - did saccharin songs like that really appeal at the time?
Needless to say, albeit based on a video game, Fallout has a fabulous rich storyline. I'm inclined to say I like it more than Westworld!
Anyways, a couple of fun observations.
The Knight-carrying choppers of Fallout's Brotherhood of Steel .....
The dead astronaut and spacecraft on the poster for DeF-Con 4, an old film I'd like to see. Is it any good?
It's the shapes that look similar to the Soviet wreck.
He brings to mind the much earlier Tex Hex from the 80's cartoon Bravestarr. I love his buffalo rider. I just can't think what it's called. Anyone got Bravestarr stuff?
