Ponty Packed

 Missus Moonbase and me have been out to Pontefract dropping off charity bags and mooching round them at the same time.

Ponty's turning out to be a good place for vintage toys and stuff with its well-stocked  charity shops, the Etsy shop and the Magistrates Court packed with goodies.

My only purchase was a bargain I thought, £3 for all these old badges. There's some good ones you'll no doubt remember: Sky Ray Moon Fleet, One with TV Times Tivvy, Man from Uncle Bubble Gum, Batman, P'Nut Spaceman (What's that?) and more. I was chuffed with Aztecs, which I adored as a kid; Bruce Lee and Fantastic, a comic I got as a nipper.

My Other Car is a Carabo!

 Cue Yorkie's comment in today's Stratos post about his Matchbox Alfa Romeo Carabo Bertone, I got to thinking about my own as a kid.

My mind misremembered there being two metallic versions of the Matchbox Carabo,

The glorious purple classic ...

And the magnificent green beauty ...

But Doh! my old grey matter is wrong! The green machine was of course a Corgi Rockets toy!

I had both. Oh boy oh boy!

Which do you prefer readers, purple or green?

In my Mind I'm a Stratos Owner

 It's true, I love this car.

It's UFO, Blade Runner and ASTRO1 rolled into one.

The boot is a triangle.

It has everything all my coolest Superfast and Hot Wheels had.

And you sit in a cockpit.

Hot Wheels saw the light.

The Lancia Stratos.

Forget everything else.

Unboxing: The Online Craze

With MoonBase Junior the Grandson here it means Minecraft or animal videos on YouTube Tube. No normal kids TV as I would know it!

The current animals hit is a 'show' on You Tube called The Fish guys. Basically it's two young American men who have a warehouse full of fish tanks, which they fill with exotic fish they buy from all over the place, all done with a level of excitement I can only dream of! 

The whole process, especially the unboxing, is professionally filmed, interspersed with sponsorship from Morgan and Morgan and offers of mystery boxes for sale to the thousands of followers. There's lots of info about the fish and no swearing. It's clearly a career.

The unboxing is a phenomenon I've noticed on You Tube. It's a thing in itself. To film stuff being unboxed. Fish, cosmetics, anything. Toys too. 

Is this unboxing craze something you've come across?

hi Woodsy,  here as promised is my Hot Wheels batmobile custom,  the car is by Spinmaster and is meant to fit  a 12" figure,  ive added more controls and booster seats to fit the 6-7" scale figures,  the flames are from a company that supplies vinyl decals for R/C cars, the car was dry brushed with a midnight blue. Also a  little ai for movement...

Brick Bay

My Grandson recently built these three space vehicles. They were little bricks in a small lunchbox-style tin. 

A revolving rocket, a satellite and a rover.

All very cool indeed! 

This sort of mini-brick modelling has really taken off, would you agree?

Dynamic Situation

I quite like the look of this RC space patrol vehicle by Dynamic Toys. 

Like an Italian super car with MSV cum dropship chops it's got a real cool flat design.
