BRIAN'S MONSTER BASE BASH: MEGO'S HEROES AND LINCOLN'S MONSTERS SLUG IT OUT!

Reader and monstrous toy collector Brian F, he of Monster Base NJ, has kindly sent me this fabulous snap from a 1976 Montgomery Wards catalogue, which inspired him as only Lincoln Monsters can!

Yes, the Wards catalogue shot gave American kids a mouth-watering and magnificent bust-up between Lincoln International's Monsters and Mego's Greatest Superheroes.

Robin get's to side-kick the Hunchback: Supe get's a right-hook into Wolfie but Frankie has deffo got the better of Green Goblin. He's toast!

You would never have guessed it looking at the catalogue's angelic cover!

Ed's GIANT Plastics Corp Googly-Eyed Alien Knock-off

I think we all like seeing or acquiring oddball toys and this is a cool toy I picked up a few months back. It is a knock-off of one of GIANT"s aliens but is a sliver blow-mold vs. a solid piece of plastic. I love his googly eyes! LOL

Ed's LP Green and Grey Aliens

Woodsy, this year has been one for catching up on posting figure photos on my blog Toys and Stuff* where I've been posting many spacemen, aliens, and WWII figures.

The photos show my complete sets of LP 25mm and 50mm aliens which I just posted back in August and September.

YOUR HELP NEEDED! THE GI JOE KNOCKOFF MR.ROCK INSIGNIA MYSTERY

Can anyone ID this insignia at all?

I've read that its from a 12 inch GI Joe knockoff. Anyone know which figure?

The insignia was re-used on this, the Lincoln International's 8 inch Mr. Rock figure, which, after my small mock-up this week, I will attempt to re-create properly next year.

THE X-20 SPACE CAR BOXED

We've seen this beauty before on MC, the X-20 Space Car.

Not sure we've seen a box before so here's one I saw earlier on an online auction.

Such a gorgeous toy and box, like the link between the 1950's Atomic age and the more modern age of Space toys in the 1960's.

Does anyone have one?

Mock Spock: My Custom Mr. Rock Figure

A pointy-eared cousin of the Lincoln International Monsters, Mr. Rock is rarer than a Vulcan laugh.

A Spock rip-off, this figure has attained legendary status among Lincoln and Mego collectors and is seen, like the Victim, as a bone-fide member of the Lincoln International Monsters.

To create a pauper's version I enlisted my pointy-eared Hornby elf and his trousers.

I added a blue top, coloured the trousers black and re-styled the hair and eyebrows. I added shoes for 'elf and 'appiness!

I've read that the figure came with a pink radio and a flare gun too.

Grabbing one of my new blisters and finding a picture of Mr.Rock in my copy of the Rack Toys book, I photographed a few different angles.

More of a comical impression of Mr. Rock, a knockoff of a knockoff!

PUT A CORK IN IT! SPACE ROBOT AND SPACE BATTLE TARGET GAMES

As we've seen with Space Ace, those pop guns get everywhere in space. They pop up on auctions constantly.

The 80's was awash with target sets like this Space Robot set with a cork gun.

You could get it in different colours and with small plastic red pellets too.

Not sure if the rather snazzy card art is lifted from an arcade game. You?

Here's a more infantile illustration on more or less the same set too.

For larger ammo you could move up to ping pong balls and a particularly chunky see-through pistol.

Here's one boxed called Space Battle, which has some really great box art, some clearly 'inspired' by Star Wars but some not. I love the circular space station and the big ship up top; where are they from?

Here's another boxed Space battle target game. You can see the toothed rings on the pistols, which recall those on the Force toy gun we saw on MC last week.
