William's LEM Sealab Explorer
A Quiet Place
Me and the Missus watched A Quiet Place tonight in our holiday shack.
It's been around years but it's just never appealed. Last night we drew the short straw and watched a terrible Sandra Bullock movie called the Lost City. Tonight we went blockbuster in the hope it turned out well.
It did. The premise is interesting and having to maintain silence makes for a lot of tension.
The monsters are well executed too. All flappy ear holes and long legs. They remind me of small Cloverfields and I enjoyed the nods to War of the Worlds with the alien in the basement.
I see there's a Quiet Place II and just out, A Quiet Place Day One, the tricky prequel.
Have you seen a Quiet Place?
Devonian Days
Today was our last full day in our old stomping ground, the South Hams in Devon. We lived in Slapton for six months in the glorious Spring and summer of 1987.
It's been a trip down memory lane for sure.
Here are a few snaps from today.
Plastic ferry. I used to have one. You?
IL TRASTORIELLO MONDADORI: SPANISH ACTION TRANSFERS
I adored Action Stickers when I was a kid. You know, those rub-down transfers that went onto different glossy scenes. There were loads of packs and space was popular.
These packs from Spain look like a similar thing, Il Trastoriello Mondadori.

PALITOY'S BRUTUS AND OTHER PLASTIC DOGS
I always liked my Brutus as a kid. You know, the hard plastic boxer dog that kept the Palitoy Action Man Canadian Mountie company.
(was there a Hasbro GI Joe Brutus?)
I've always wondered if it - and the later Husky - was an original Palitoy dog or something else, an ornament maybe, like fancy goods?
Well, I'm not sure I can answer that yet, as I don't actually own a Brutus anymore so I can't be sure of any makers mark on it. Your help would be welcomed.
But, I can confirm that there was indeed a range of hard plastic ornamental dogs made in the 1960's, made in Hong Kong and individually numbered.
Here's what I've found online so far.
If you know of any more please let me know.
The range did indeed include a boxer like Action Man's Brutus, numbered 102. It lacked any collar or chain.
I'm Seeing Things!
I think a lack of old toys in South Devon's charity shops is making me see things on holiday.
Yesterday I saw this modern Paw Patrol armoured car on a shelf and could have sworn ...
INTO THE BLUE
This little wheeled rocket has legs.
It just keeps on going as a design.
Seen many times on Moonbase its likely origin is in the Blue Box space vehicles series.
This particular rocket is labelled Columbia and NASA and appeared on the Spanish auction site Todocollecion. Its missing its fins.
Here's an early appearance of the range on MC from 15 years ago!
Have you got anything like this?
