Bachmann Model Kit Company History Video by Max

Max from Max's Models has produced another of his excellent company history videos, this time on Bachmann. 

The company is best known for its model railway items, but they did dabble in kits, and we have looked at some of them on Moonbase Central.

The various Paint-by-Number lines are covered, including the Birds of the World (22 kits), Dogs of the World (11 kits), Animals of the World (eight kits), and Americana (three kits). The Storytown, U.S.A. range, based on the attractions at a US theme park, are not mentioned, but there were six kits in this series.

VINTAGE STINGRAY JIGSAW PUZZLES

 Here’s a look at some of the vintage Stingray jigsaw puzzles that were released when the series originally aired in 1964.

There are a set of four Waddington ‘Ponda’ wooden 20-piece puzzles 71/2” x 51/2” : Marineville; Troy and Phones in the injector bay; Stingray in it’s pen; Troy and Phones on their Monocopters.

The front of the boxes featured a photo which was the same size as the puzzle.

Waddington also released four larger 101/2” x 13” ‘Vari-piece’ cardboard jigsaw puzzles: On Patrol; Briefing at Marineville; Captives of the Aquaphibeans; Troy finds Marina.

Waddington’s Vari-piece ‘Progress’ jigsaw, a much larger puzzle at 211/4” x 161/2”. This shows a montage of Stingray background scenes. For TV Century 21 readers the same montage appeared in the 1965 TV21 International Extra.

In the United States Whitman Publishing produced a Stingray ‘Frame-Tray’ jigsaw puzzle dated 1965.

A competition that appeared in TV Century 21 to win a Waddington's Jigsaw if you had a winning 'Identicode' number..

I picked up this vintage green Matchbox Battle Kings Army transporter in Germany in April as part of a car boot lot. In great nick, I gave it Junior yesterday.

It fits really well with his own Super Kings red transporter. Such cool designs. Very Gerry Anderson. Are they fictitious?

But what to carry?

Space Shuttle and Magnetron, no problem!

There's not much the Army green can't handle: even an SPV!

Shipley Shuffle

 Back on childminding detail, we get Tuesdays to ourselves before school pick-ups. Today we re-visited Shipley for a shifty round the charity shops.

Stuff I saw:

Various unknown figures sold as a punnet.

Vintage badges as a lot and Dr. Who annuals, £6 each. Is that good?

Old and new. No idea what the tiny white figures are.

Turtles and wrestlers. Very dear I thought.

£20. What is it?

Lone Star train set items. £70 the bundle.

Jigsaw cover. Sweets of the Sixties. Yum-mee! Which was your favourite?

Modern plastic vehicles. No idea what from. You?

My only purchase, a Transformer each for Junior and me. £3 each.

Gen1 1980's Galvatron for me - missing it's laser unit and not working - and modern Transformer for the boy. No idea where the batteries go on this. You readers?

Anything here you would have got?
