Das Boot Sale 2

 We had a stall at a large local German car boot sale, a Flohmarkt,  this morning in our continuing bid to empty my Wife's parents' full apartment.

We did OK and aim to do at least three more whilst we are here, though we have enough stuff for at around ten more sales! At 92, my Father in Law had accumulated a lot of things and never threw anything away!

I managed a wander round too and bagged two old Hot Wheels, an unusual 1998 motorised one and a blue 1979 Corvette Stingray.

Amongst the vast quantities of Playmobil, Some of the other toys I saw included these (photos from the net). All quite dear.

Lehman RIGI boxed cable cars.

A GAMA shell petrol station.

A GAMA mobile crane.

ED'S TIN: ANOTHER AIR FORCE ONE

Here's another Air Force One in my collection. 

This is a tin/plastic hybrid and is quite larger than the one previously presented which was made by T.N.

This one comes in at 19" (48.26cm) L x 17 1/4" (43.81cm) wingspan x 7 1/4" (18.41cm) H. It takes two 'D' cell batteries to operate its features which include engine roar, blinking lights, operating landing gear and runway taxiing! 

There's no manufacturer's mark on the plane but it does appear in the 1969 Sears Christmas Wishbook.

Well it's starting to look slightly like my work area at home here at the German flat.

I've stripped off all the decals from my airliner and done as good a clean of the glue residue as I can without access to lighter fluid. 

I've cut out a windows decal strip for each side and finally today repositioned the front landing gear, which is currently drying.

I'm considering a new and wider windscreen next.

Some progress at least in my downtime here

Chris's Arnold Fairey Rotodyne Toy

Hi Woodsy

I don't usually buy tin toys, but I snapped up this Fairey Rotodyne on eBay because it's one of my favourite aircraft!

The toy was made by Arnold in West Germany, presumably in the early 1960s when the Rotodyne was in the news. Arnold has a long history, starting with making toy trains. 

The Rotodyne model is about 22cm long, very lightweight, and has a 'remote control' mechanism which rotates the blades.

 Overall it's in very good condition for its age - there can't be many left in this condition.

Springwell and Acrylics

Hello Woodsy,

In reply to Mish (in the comments earlier this week), Springwell models do take acrylic paint. 

Here's my painted Springwell -Tudor Rose Tugboat on my Northern Heights layout.
