APE TAPE: KEVIN'S SCRATCHBIULT POTA RECORDER

A very quick scratchbuild indeed. The flight data recorder disc from the Planet of the Apes TV series. Virdon believes it contains the information they need to get them home. Burke is less convinced and Galen doesn't have a view on it!

Thought I might as well make the bit of their ship that it slots into as well, makes a nice wall display.

A RUDIMENTARY RRRUMBLERS RIP CODE

 Whilst waiting for my Boneshaker Ebay 'rider' to arrive in the excruciatingly slow post, I've had a crack at another Rrrumbler,  the amazing Rip Code.

Here's an original by Mattel.

It was this small Christmas chocolate liqueurs crate that set me off with this one!

Despite being bigger than the original toy it looked perfect!

Feeling impatient I quickly bashed out the boxy shape.

Some nice blue paint is on order to finish the body.

Meanwhile a missing rider is my bane once again. I just cannot find bike or tractor riders in Charity shops.

I did find this footless soldier in my footlocker ....

.... and daubed him in yellow. I took more of his legs off. 

He'd had enough. So had I and even with more 'improvements' I'm not sure he'll be fit for duty.

I need another rider from Ebay!

Like any 'rush' job it's harder than I first thought.

Now where's the postman!

THE MOULTON MINI

 

Seeing this magazine The Moultoneer I had a blast from the cycling past.

My Sister had a Moulton Mini when I was a kid. I recall it clearly, maybe having a big turnable handle on the central rod. It could come apart I think or maybe even fold?

Did you have a Moulton Mini?

Here's one at the V&A Museum. But where's the turnable handle?

HAT-TRICK! A THREE BRAND MOON PROSPECTOR

There's a lot of Hong Kong mash-ups out there and we've seen a few right toy/ wrong box Project SWORD Moon Prospectors over the years.

This maybe the first one I've seen involving all three main brands of the Moon Prospector.

This example I saw on Ebay has a Tarheel box and a toy co-branded T in a Circle [Tai Hing] and Century 21 Toys!

Located in Texas, USA, its got all three!

Check your own prospectors; let us know what branding they have.

Revved Up! Bone Dry

 My Revvers Bone Shaker is almost done. All its limbs are in place. I added extensions to the arms to get those classic chopper forks.

The white paint's dried out and little wheels underneath allow it to roll

It still needs a rider, a saddle and handlebars. 

All tomorrow's parties.

Revved Up! Motor Bone Mayhem!

 Work in progress in the bone yard.

A few scraps glued together made for a big hog engine.

It slotted neatly between Boney's ribs.

... And like all scalliwags left out to dry.

The coffin car is done. The little pink and silver helmeted driver is ready for traction. Far too small as a sidecar compared to the skeleton bike, it'll do once both are displayed in the cupboard.

Revved Up! Down To The Bone!

 Progress on my Revvers boneshaker goes apace.

The cheapo plastic skeleton proved easy to dissect. Mr. Bones got into some pretty scary positions as the glue set too!

Work on the coffin sidecar has started. I couldn't find a bonebreaker sweets coffin, which would have been better, so I opted for a smaller yellow bag clasp because I'm impatient!

It sawed well and some little wheels fitted perfectly.

The skeleton parts got a lick of white and the sidecar has now got a seat, a spare wheel and a flaming decal. The Missus said it looks like a wheelie bin! The cheek! Ha ha.

Revved Up Again! The Boneshaker Set

 Making Bill's Towing Terror set me off on making more Hot Wheels Revvers.

In my sights is this wondrous Sidecar Set.

It includes the fabulous Boneshaker with the purple Top Hatter riding.

Normally costing an arm and a bone, can I make one?

I'm going to try!
