Seeing this magazine The Moultoneer I had a blast from the cycling past.
My Sister had a Moulton Mini when I was a kid. I recall it clearly, maybe having a big turnable handle on the central rod. It could come apart I think or maybe even fold?
Did you have a Moulton Mini?
Here's one at the V&A Museum. But where's the turnable handle?
I did have one. A red one. It was the bike I learned to ride on! It wasn't a folding one though.
ReplyDeleteMaybe none of them folded Kev. I may have misremembered that! Lovely bikes though.
DeleteYeah, they were. Mine had the big white plastic round trim on the drive sprocket that you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThose frames dont look the same.
ReplyDeleteIs the lower one actually a Moulten ?
Sorry, 'Moulton'
ReplyDeleteThe blue one looks right, it's the one on the magazine cover that looks unusual to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused dot com. I will have to check the source of the blue image.
ReplyDeleteThis is where the image of the blue bike was from, a Moulton Stowaway https://auctionet.com/en/892497-bicycle-metal-moulton-stowaway-england-1960s
ReplyDeleteMaybe the blue Moulton 'Stowaway' is the 'foldy - up' one, and the Moulton Mini is a different bike entirely with a different frame.
ReplyDeleteLooking at that blue one, the main frame member looks to come apart, there is a join line and some sort of bolt. The mini definitely didn't do that, but the overall frame shape is the same.
