Somethin' Fishy!

I noticed a couple of posts featuring fish shaped toys and it reminded me of this Marxu (not 'Marx') Space Whale Ship box for their repo toy. I forget who made the original (Nomura???) but the Marxu version was a repop. A toy I ordered from fleaBay was packed in this box and I never had the toy iteself. Quite frankly I'm not a fan of the toy and will never try to hunt one down.

Kevin's Imai Cloudbase: The Sky's the Limit!

Picked up a cheap Imai Cloudbase kit. It was missing the bridge so I scratchbuilt one. It isn't a terrible kit.

BLUE MILK, GREEN MILK: THE STAR WARS DAIRY

Last week I was discussing Luke's blue Bantha milk from a New Hope with Junior. He's a seven year old Star Wars fan so he knows about this stuff!

We were chewing the cud when he said that he's seen Luke milking a Bantha. I said no way but he was certain.

He tapped a few keys on the TV remote and lo and behold there was Luke milking something.

He was a much older bearded Luke, the grizzled hermit in the Last Jedi.

Turns out Junior was half right. Its not a Bantha but a Thala-Siren and its milk is green.

In reality the prop is coconut water CGI'd green.

Blue milk, green milk? Are there any other milks in Star Wars or come to that, any other drinks?

And a couple of straight Afters. The purple Matt job was an experiment with my Missus' new acrylic paint pens. The red Rolls was a mini-touch up and chroming. I've several of these, one of my fave Superfasts as a kid.

RIP Cooky

Sadly our Grandkid's pet guinea pig Cooky was put to sleep today. He was four.

On garden leave at Moonbase whilst renovations take place at our daughter's place, Cooky developed an eye problem yesterday. We booked him at the vets for this morning. Overnight the infection got worse and the vet said they needed to remove the eye. We were gutted. On our watch too.

Our daughter didn't want Cooky to go through such a terrible ordeal. We've had many piggies and ours never did well after operations. She wanted to spare Cooky any more pain.

Cooky was a rescue pig and had a great four years with his new family. He leaves his pal Robin behind.

The Grandkids are very upset. I suppose 'little' deaths like this prepare you for the big ones to come. Maybe.

RIP Cooky.

It all reminds me of my Project SWORD Scout 2 with its swing wings. Did you/ Have you got a Scout 2 or a swing wing toy plane?

There's an old 60's Lockheed research film called Hypsersonics, which apparently featured the plane which inspired SCOUT 2, but the film is lost. There was a hint of it online years ago but no sign of it now.  Have you ever seen it?

Well, believe it or not, two half days of concerted effort have seen the Uncle Piranha fully roadworthy once more.

1) My blob of putty on a stick is finally finished and sorry modelmakers, but it took a bit of hard yakka to do it! It was all suck it and see, as I sanded and fitted it again and again until it fitted inside the roof properly. You can see how I tinted the top coat of putty with red spray paint to give me a sanding guide. After a sanding block and coarse wet and dry paper, I polished it to a decent shine on my jeans clad leg!

2) I then traced the putty block over a piece of 3mm MDF (Aw man, I just threw all my scraps away!) And cut and filed a hole that it would just slide through.

I found some clear 1mm scrap plastic and glued it over the hole with superglue. I then heated it up with a hot air gun and pressed the putty block firmly into the hole (use something like a jam jar to provide a good support beneath it). I didn't get a deep enough draw on the first try, so I reheated it and went again. This was only meant to be a test but the result was good enough to use. -Doh! I slipped while I was trimming it from the frame, but luckily the gouge didn't show when the transparency was glued into the roof with a spot of superglue.

3) Woodsie is a renovation wonder with his Chrome pens, but for my money (about fifteen Quid in your cash) this Green Stuff World Chrome is the cat's whiskers and you can get into the tiniest places with a suitable paintbrush! Look at those before and after hubcaps!

4) After I clipped the completed pieces back together, I found a dab of superglue in the rivet hole was quite enough to keep everything together. Of course this wouldn't be a proper Company car without the Company logo -just like the Thrush Buster Oldsmobile!

5) Ilya is back, still clasping his pump action shotgun. I wondered if it might be a stolen Thrush rifle, but there's no big Infra Red searchlight on it...
