In the 1930’s Hornby used loofahs for their hedges and trees for their 0 gauge railway range, cut and coloured various shades of green. The hedges were mounted on strips of wood and held in place with nails. The trees had a dowel trunk inserted into a cast base. Pic shows some on my layout.

Star Trek Heartbeat Reader Scratchbuild by Kevin

Not the most taxing of prop replicas here. This is my replica of McCoy's heartbeat reader as seen in the original Star Trek episode "Court Martial". I made it from the same sort of old microphone that they used.

Ideal for Star Trek karaoke.

My new campaign to re-watch the X-Files is going well. Staring this week on Series one I'm now onto episode 5. So far I've seen:

1. Pilot

2. Deep Throat

3. Squeeze [I thought it was called Tooms]

4. Conduit

Next up is 5, Jersey Devil, which I don't recall but sounds great! "The murder of a homeless man which is very similar in detail to a murder committed in 1947 leads Mulder and Scully to the legendary man-beast the Jersey Devil roaming in the forests surrounding Atlantic City." [Wikipedia]

Hi Woodsy and Happy Halloween! Here are some new decorations, both indoors and out.I have begun decorating the side yard and back porch in addition to the already well established front yard deco.

I eventually want to have a Haunted Walk all the way around my house!

Life with Loofah

Junior and Lil Miss are staying with us Oldies for Half Term.

The subject of Loofahs came up. The kids had never heard of one. The Missus knows the name but never had one.

I grew up with Loofahs. That long springy tube like a sackcloth leg that lived in the bath next to its mates, sponge and pumice.

Good for scrubbin backs and other rear gear, Loofahs were sensitive graters that dried out in between jobs.

I had no idea where they came from as a kid. I didn't even know what they were. As mysterious as capers and baby bio, they were just there.

I imagine it's not environmentally friendly

Well At Least They Tried: Marx Convair XF-92

Developed to fulfill the role of a point-defense interceptor, the XF-92 was built for purely experimental purposes. Only one was built and is now on display at Wright-Patterson AFB.

The Marx version was designed for inclusion in playsets and wasn't marketed as the XF-92.
