Madurdam Giant Dutch Model Village

Here is another British Pathe film, on the Dutch model village of Madurdam. It is built to a scale of 1/25th, and shows the progress of the town from 1000 AD to the present day (1955).

There are streets filled with houses, roads, railways, a port, and a modern airport. Many of the models work, with trains and vehicles running, ships moving through the water, etc.

The Lord Mayor of Madurdam was the then teenage Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, who was Queen from 1980 to 2013. Relatively long for a Pathe film, at four and a half minutes.

Mort Kunstler - Aurora Kit Artist

Here is a bit more on the American artist Mort Kunstler. He did a number of box tops for Aurora, including the two Man From U.N.C.L.E. figure kits - no idea if he did any for other companies.

He is mentioned several times in Box Top Air Power, by Thomas Graham, which covers model aircraft box art. Born in 1927, it seems he is still with us.

Anti Life: I hugged my own Face!

I tried to watch Anti Life last night. Didn't know anything about it but there were various clues as to it's origin very early on.

When someone lies down in a long haul cryo-chamber with a clear screen you immediately think of ....

Even more blatant is a fluid dissolving a metal table. Really?

All that was missing was a nodding bird.

Anti Life is an ALIEN clone. 

Rather like the creatures themselves, each clone is worse and ANtI LifE is a real gloopy mess. The name is even a poor anagram of ALIEN! I mean, C'mon! 

Poor Bruce Willis. After such an illustrious career he more or less ends it before he got unwell with this knockoff drivel.

In the end I was bored senseless and began looking for Jonesy and switched off half way through

I like this old statuette of the Northrop M2-F5 Lifting Body. Of unknown origin you can read more about it's current home in the Air and Space Museum.

The SpaceX Cricket has a long history on Moonbase and a really long history as a toy. Here's a 1965 ad I saw on Piclic for the Remco Mosquito Jeep. Is this a toy you had? Think Hamiltons Invaders and Monkey Division!

A NOVA GOOD IDEA

I've always liked the NOVA. It was my favourite SpaceX toy as a kid.

When I saw this small kit years ago on Ebay I snapped it up.

Its a Mexican R&L inspired mini kit, like the ones that were cereal free gifts.

There's a Booster Rocket too and Project SWORD-type Moon Modules, but they are harder to find.

There's often a NOVA floating around on Ebay com.
