Of interest too is the Combat Car box and toy, a nice space vehicle, to the left.

SIXTEEN 12 DELUXE HANGAR SET

 Another look at some previously published photos I took of the Sixteen 12 Deluxe Hangar Set.

As I thought the Hangar diorama on its own was a bit too restrictive for the photos I wanted to take, as you can see I chose to extend it slightly.

The Eagles in the set comprise of a Laboratory Eagle with Spine Boosters, and a Pallet Eagle, with a removable non-working winch motor.

It comes with four figures; three Alphan uniformed personnel , and an astronaut holding his helmet under his arm, all which appear to be in scale with the Eagles.

There’s also a set of Eagle pod access stairs.

The Hangar diorama has a base which accommodates the two Eagles, and two vividly green walls made up of protruding triangles.

Film and TV Model Kits of the 1960s

This is a short clip from the 60's Child about plastic kit models based on films and television from the 1960s. 

There are period ads, box tops, kit part layouts, and fully built models -  even the very rare Revell kits of the Beatles. Mainly figure kits, vehicles, and spaceships. Maybe you got some at Xmas?

SECRET MISSILES BASE BY PETREL: MYSTERY CONTENTS: ONE RESULT!

We've seen this Petrel set before [top right] but I thought I'd blog it again as its unusual. I know nothing about Petrel.

The old Vectis auction pictures aren't too great. Its hard to make out exactly what's in each compartment.

Anyone know what the yellow object is and the orange craft below it with the star sticker?

RESULT!

As soon as Arto mentioned wheels it rang a bell and here we have it. I think the orange vehicle is the friction powered Missile Car, seen below in blue and boxed as featured here on MC in 2014! Make still unknown.

Further observations:

Top right I now think that the yellow object is a plastic dingy or lifeboat like this [playmobil, as an example] 

and maybe some figures are frogmen or are they simply LP spacemen on their side? What do you think?

Top left I can just about see a black vehicle, possible a jet or a missile. Can you?

MATCHBOX UTILITY TRUCK 1989

Your recent comments about trees being felled, and lumberjack or tree surgeon models and toys, reminded me of a Matchbox model from a few years ago that I have. 

The MB74 Utility Truck (numbered MB33 in the USA) has an elevating and folding plastic arm, with two buckets at the top for workmen. The copyright date on the base is 1989, and the scale is given as 1:83. 

The model came in a wide range of colour schemes. Most were power or telephone company vehicles, but two were marked Tree Care. These date from the mid-1990s. 

The first was cream, with green plastic parts and printing. The second was metallic green, with white plastic parts and printing.

SIXTEEN 12 SIGNATURE EAGLE

 Continuing my revisited look at the 12” Sixteen 12 Eagles, this is the limited release of the Brian Johnson signed Eagle Transporter, which was released in October, 2019, and is definitely one for the Space: 1999 merchandise collector who wants something a little more exclusive.

This one crept in under the radar as there was no link to it on the Sixteen 12 website. It carried a price tag of £249.99 + shipping, and anyone who ordered it was limited to just two models. To get one the prospective purchaser had to email Sixteen 12 directly.

This special edition was limited to just 300 worldwide, and came with a small photo showing Brian at his home signing the pod tops.

To give it its full title it’s the Space: 1999 Breakaway 20^th anniversary Eagle Transporter Special Signature Edition.

At first glance it’s a standard Sixteen 12 12” Eagle Transporter, however, its unique and exclusive aspect is that each Transporter Pod is individually signed by SFX Director and Eagle designer, Brian Johnson, and comes in a white presentation display box with a protective card slip case.

Open the lid to reveal the deluxe satin fabric interior with an upper display area to place the signed passenger pod.

In spite of its higher cost, this exclusive edition sold out fairly quickly.
