MR. REMBRANDT: THE DRAWING DROID

Reading my beloved Board Games books by Desi Scarpone I saw a game I'd not noticed before. Mr. Rembrandt by Ideal from 1970.

I've never seen Mr. Rembrandt in the flesh and on first impressions I thought the robot involved in the game was the famous Mr. Machine, also by Ideal.

Looking closer I see its a different plastic robot and one capable of drawing. Mr. Rembrandt is a mixture of a toy robot and spirograph. How cool is that! 

Besides pictures on online auctions like the ones shown I also found this video footage of the artistic droid. What do you think of this toy game?

PISTOL CAR

 

Not something you see every day, a pistol toy car!

This one is even co-branded Zodiac, my fave toy shop in the Sixties.

IS CANADA DRY GINGER ALE?

I'm really enjoying lime juice in my bottled lager again. Lager and Lime! Yes! Its a proper blast from the citric past, which I drank in the Seventies.

Another bottles drink I liked, in the Sixties, was Canada Dry. Now I'm confused about this. I can see it now in my mind's eye stood on my Dad's home-made bar but the taste memory I have is of Ginger Ale.

Was Canada Dry ginger ale?

Russian Nuclear Aircraft Carrier Submarine Model

 One of the finest toys ever to grace the blog is the JR21 Stingray Atomic Submarine Aircraft carrier.

A sumptuous and sleek vehicle first found in TV21 comic.

I never thought I'd see another toy or model like it so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this video of a Russian nuclear aircraft carrier model posted on You Tube in 2017.

Its an interesting looking thing! What do you think?

SPACE AND PRIME

It was inevitable that the super rich would go on a Grand Tour of the cosmos like they did to classical Europe in the 19th Century.

Jeff Bezos and his brother are taking a drive into the heavens in their own rocket, Blue Origin. Is it the start of Prime in space?

I wonder if they'll bump into Elon Musk and Dickie Branson zooming round up there!
