MOONSHOT FIGURE OF EIGHT ART

This game I saw on auction ages ago is not one I know. The Apollo Space Rocket Checker Game by Cardinal.

The box art on the other hand is that iconic earth moon figure of eight we see on lots of moonshot-inspired playthings from back in the late Sixties and early Seventies. I wonder who came up with it first?

I think it appeared on Wotan's Avon post the other day and I'm pretty sure its on the side of one of the bigger Triang Spacex toy boxes.

Do you know of any others where we get the moonshot 8?

Ideal Phantom Raider

Hi,

Here is a short You Tube clip of the Ideal Toy Corporation Phantom Raider from 1964. A large, battery operated cargo ship. Over two feet long. At the flip of a switch, the hull extends, and three cargo hatches open, revealing depth charges, missiles, and a bank of torpedos. All can be fired. The toy is capable of forward and reverse movement, and it rocks from side to side as it moves.

SPACE TOYS IN THE WINDOW

I saw this online, a toy museum window in Buones Ares. You can see the Argentinian Chibi Moon Prospector back left and the chap is staring at a Gorgo version of the SPC. He's probably thinking its the biggest SPC by far. Or?

Its years since I saw a good toy display like this with planes hanging from the roof. Have you seen one or even better, got one readers?

Lime Green Dream Machine

Hi,

I have just picked up the latest version of the Mattel Dream Mobile car from Hot Wheels. This one is a very nice lime green, with silver trim, a chrome base which includes the front bumper and grille, and a red plastic interior.

It is part of the Tooned sub-series. The model has already been released in red in 2020, and turquoise blue in 2021. This Hot Wheels is a miniature version of the first toy car that Mattel made back in 1953.

That came in four futuristic colours: Red Blaze, Blue Bullet, Chartreuse Dreamliner, and Black Diamond. Staring in to my crystal ball, and muttering weird incantations, I predict that the next version to appear will be black.
