The North Yorkshire market town of Selby on the River Ouse is an interesting place.
There are lots of charity shops for one.
Along with the Missus yesterday I picked up this lovely Corgi Juniors Manta. It really does remind me of a UFO TV series car. Is it one you had?
Also this somewhat playworn Corgi Burtone Shake Buggy
A few quid paid for these old Meccano magazines from 1964-66.
The rear covers are all colour ads for die-casts like the odd Dinky Beats [why not just say The Beatles?] and space tea cards. There's an article on the making of Fireball XL5 too!
A proper shop with proper prices was selling off tons of Thunderbirds Are Go bop bags, second shelf down. There were more stacked in the shop too, obviously not selling. Would you buy a TB1 or TB3 bop bag?
Walking round the edges of the town centre we saw this plaque for Yorkshire's first rail station.
with its old goods yard doors. How big are they!
There's a flour mill nestling on the River Ouse just off the town centre.
Old iron bridges spanning the river too
and somewhat soberingly a plaque on the cathedral graveyard fence for a past pandemic!
There's something for everyone in Selby!
